Putting on a conference they won't forget

Putting on a conference is a painstaking task that very few people are willing to attempt to tackle. Once the job is passed down the line, and it ends up in your lap, the average person's stress level goes through the roof almost instantly.

It's not like you don't have enough stress from your regular daily run of the mill, rat race routine. Why let it get to you in such a manner, when all you have to do is just simply divide the job up into little tasks to be done on a daily basis to prevent the over-whelming feeling it gives. Make it was for a change. First, think of the different things that will be going on: seminars, product displays and such.

Then there's the question of the food, are you going to have the event catered, or does the hotel offer staff catering? There's also the question of the hotel. Is there a hotel in your town, or an adjacent town that has a convention center? If not, what hotel will have the largest capacity to house your event, and at what rate? Can they cut you a deal for your guests and guest speakers?

There there's also the task of organizing your speakers. Who will be the first? Whose speech will make the most impact? Which of the speakers will be the best choice to close the show? You have to take all of this into consideration when planning for the seminars. It is always important to pay very close attention to detail when planning anything, but especially when planning for a convention.

Would you want your guests to show up at the wrong hotel after a long trip expecting a meal, only to find out that not only is there no meal, but that they are not even in the right town? Of course not, as that would be a total and complete disaster.

One of best conference venues in Europe, is  The Celtic Manor Resort which also has three golf courses and two spas and a purpose built convention centre with a 1200 square metre exhibition hall.

If possible, ask if you can have assistance with the project, and if so, ask other co-workers to join you, and find out which ones have the best abilities to cover what area. It is always best to remember to put on the best convention possible, as you will want your guests to not only continue talking about how well it was planned and laid out, but you want them chomping at the proverbial bit, waiting impatiently for the next convention.
